This system is built around flexible structure - not rigid rules.
Structure gives you a default path each morning. It reduces decision fatigue and that executive function drain of "what should I work on now?" You can sit down, look at Today, and start without burning mental energy on planning first.
But it's a framework, not a mandate.
When your brain resists:
The structure is your safety net - something that catches you when executive function is low. But when you have capacity, preferences, or insight your past self didn't have when planning? Use it.
If you're struggling with the system, ask: Am I fighting the structure because it's genuinely wrong for today, or because structure feels restrictive? The first is good adaptation. The second is where flexible structure helps - you can trust the default and change it when needed.
